Surya Kembar Retreat Center: June 20-29th, 2018
THEME:
Our theme for our time together will be Return to the Self. We will bask in the tropical paradise and healing energy of the island to reconnect with our inner selves and remind us of our interconnected nature to all living things. You will leave this retreat more healthy, empowered, and in touch with your path and purpose.
In addition to daily asana practices to physically challenge and invigorate practitioners of all levels, daily workshops and evening practices will also include elements of yin and restorative yoga, meditation, journaling and discussion to move deeply into our innermost desires and gain clarity for how to manifest them.
There will be a variety of yoga to choose from throughout the week, including vigorous guided vinyasa flow practices, focused therapeutic yoga sessions with detailed instruction, and more relaxed sessions focusing on a particular theme, such as inversions or balance postures. See below for a sample day's schedule.

TRAVEL DATES & BEST AIRFARES:
- Search a Range of Dates for Best Airfares:
When searching for the best airfare, consider arriving a day or two before and/or returning a day or two after the retreat. There can sometimes be a considerable difference in fares with a one- or two-day shift on either side of your itinerary.
- Extra Nights at the Villas:
If rooms are available, extra nights at the Villas before and/or after the retreat can be booked for as little as $50 per person for double occupancy or $100 for a single. In many cases, the savings in airfare realized from a one- or two-day shift in your itinerary can more than make up for any extra lodging costs.
- When to Book Your Flight:
Now is the time! If you see a good fare, book it.
OTHER TRAVEL CONSIDERATIONS:
- Retreat Venue: Surya Kembar Villas Ubud, Bali http://www.suryakembar.com/
- Nearest Airport: Denpasar Airport (DPS)
- Airport Transport: Please notify Meghan of your arrival and departure day, so that we can arrange airport pickup and drop off for you
- Flight Considerations and Originating Airports: First, I recommend you book your flights as soon as possible
In checking flight options, we have at times found lower fares and shorter itineraries (including even some direct flights) from locations other than your home airport.
- Extra Nights before/after the Retreat:
Depending on availability, you may have the opportunity to book a room at the Villas for a night or two before and/or after the retreat, for an additional cost. If there are no rooms at the Villas, there are options in the town of Ubud, which is about 7 minutes from the retreat center.

WHY TRAVEL TO BALI WITH MEGHAN
Meghan has been teaching yoga in a number of styles and in a number of locations for over 10 years. 4 of those years were spent teaching in Bali, Indonesia, at the esteemed Bali Spirit Yoga Barn. While in Bali, I taught classes, workshops, and private session at Radiantly Alive Yoga, and at a number of boutique hotels and villas including: Alila, the Four Seasons, Kajane, and Sankara Resort. While stateside and completing my PhD in ethnomusicology, I continued to teach at Kaivalya yoga in Madison, Wisconsin, Inner Power Yoga in Woodland Hills, CA, Agoura Power of Yoga in Agoura, CA, and have done workshops at the Lulu Lemon in Madison, WI and Calabassus, CA. I currently teach at Yoga Love and at School House Yoga in Pittsburgh, PA.
Meghan teaches a number of different styles and hs done a number of trainings including: vinyasa yoga 200RYT; Tantric (energetic) Yoga at Agama Yoga, Thailand (150 hrs); alignment and assisting supplemental training (50hrs); and a number of Thai massage and acro yoga trainings. Her deep connection to music, amplified by the many years she spent living and studying the yogic, spiritual lifestyle of the Balinese, has led Meghan to develop a teaching style focused on subtlety, breath, patience, and healing, giving her students what they need wherever they are at, and guiding them to emerge refreshed, invigorated, and stronger in both mind and body. Meghan characterizes her teaching as nurturing, with luscious assists (provided students want this) and great attention to expansive breathe and alignment to heal, prevent injury, and strengthen.
Between 2007 and 2015, Meghan spent nearly four years living in Bali, Indonesia, and this was the site of her doctoral research on Balinese music, culture, religion, and shadow puppet theater. While living in Bali, Meghan was a consultant and tour guide for several summer programs and cultural tours and accompanied these groups to meet and study with Balinese artists, religious scholars, and historians. She has presented and lectured on aspects of Balinese culture in her university courses, at invited lectures, and at workshops connected to the Bali Spirit World Music Festival, and she is well connected to Balinese artists and healers. Meghan is fluent in the Indonesian national language (Bahasa Indonesia) and has proficiency in Balinese, which makes her well-positioned to offer students a unique opportunity to engage with Balinese culture and connect with the indigenous people.
